Brad StillardNuffield Australia 2010 scholarship winnerBrad Stillard has been awarded the 2010 Nuffield Scholarship supported by Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL), through a voluntary contribution from the Australian Processing Tomato Growers and matched funding from the Australian Government, to research salinity and nutrients issues in tomato production. Brad is self-employed, managing an 800ha family farm partnership near Barooga on the NSW-Victorian border, producing 3500 tonnes of processing tomatoes annually using drip irrigation, running 100 to 150 head of beef cattle, and cropping winter cereals and oilseeds. He plans to visit countries where groundwater is used for irrigation, particularly where water quality and salinity are issues, including US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Spain and Turkey.
