Stephen BallNuffield Australia 2010 scholarship winnerSouth Australian producer Stephen Ball has been awarded a 2010 Nuffield Scholarship sponsored by the Grains Research and Development Corporation to investigate direct seeding systems. Stephen and wife Nikki Hannaford farm 600ha in the Gilbert Valley, in South Australia’s lower-north region. They produce cereals, legumes and oilseeds using no-till methods and have recently destocked the property of sheep entirely to advance no-till and canopy management copping techniques. They have also established a 2300 head commercial rabbit enterprise, with potential to expand.
