Nuffield Australia conferences

The Nuffield Australia Board has been considering the optimum format for our ‘National Conference’ in recent years. After evaluating various arrangements it was decided to streamline the old format, merging successful elements and rebranding the events as:

  • The Spring Tour – held in October each year. The annual George Wilson Oration is presented at this event. To read the Oration go to this page.
  • The Autumn Tour – held in March or April each year.

Reports on these events can be found by using the links in the lefthand column (reports for Nuffield Contemporary Scholars Conference (CSC) and the Triennial International Conference can be found on the Nuffield International web site).

The tours objectives are:

  • To give the recently selected Scholars and opportunity to be briefed on the Nuffield Program
  • To give the recently returned Scholars an opportunity to be debriefed on their experiences with the objective eof continually improving the program
  • To give our returning Scholars a forum for making their verbal presentations to their peers
  • To continue the on going learning process of a Nuffield Scholarship by attending forums and visiting leading edge businesses
  • The opportunity to meet socially and network with Scholars from around Australia
  • To present the recently selected Scholars with their Scholarship Awards (Spring Tour only)

Preliminary information about the 2012 Autumn Tour:

Resting high on the Northern Tablelands, Armidale is the most cosmopolitan city in New South Wales outside Sydney and has a unique blend of culture and natural beauty. Major industries include agriculture, education and information technology.

At this Autumn Tour, eight Nuffield Scholars will present their study findings at the prestigious University of New England (UNE). The Autumn Tour Dinner will also be held at the Booloominbah Collection, a grand mansion housed within the homestead at UNE.

Visits include research facilities at UNE, Mt William Farm, Top of the Range Tomato Farm, Walcha Dairy and Eastview Estate winery and micro-brewery. A registration form is now available – click here to download.
