New South Wales

Robert Kelly – Chairman (2006 Scholar)

Rob is based at Guyra in NSW where he farms with his wife Fiona and their young daughter. Their farm is a grazing enterprise with super fine merino ewes for wool and trading in beef cattle. Rob studied the wool industry and in particular, gaining a better understanding of the processing, supply chain and consumer needs with the aim of improving the effectiveness of marketing strategies. He also studied alternative grazing systems for on-farm management. | Read Robert's report |

Jennifer Hawkins – Vice Chairman (2009 Scholar)

Jennifer is married to John and they have three children, Jane, Edwina and Charlie and are based in Finley, Southern NSW where they grow wheat, canola and rice and manage prime lambs and beef cattle. Jennifer is Director of Woolamia Pastoral Company and is Community Support Officer with Rice Growers of Australia, working with producer and landcare groups. Bruce Thompson – Secretary (2007 Scholar)

Bruce farms at Temora, operating a mixed farming business with winter crops including wheat, canola, barely and lupins in an area with 500mm annual rainfall. He is married to Leanne and they have three children, Jack, Ellah and Bardie. Mathew Stott – Treasurer (2008 Scholar)

Mathew is married to Hannah and they are based at Darlington Point in NSW. The farm business consists of 2,500 hectares of niche market crops including small seeds, tomatoes and wine grapes. They also run 800 ewes and 500 cattle. Matt studied sub-surface drip irrigation systems to determine whether the implementation of new technology would improve his on-farm water use efficiency. | Read Matt's report |

Northern Territory

Jon Shaw – Chairman (2005 Scholar)

Jon manages Sure Lines Produce in Katherine, NT, a market garden farming operation, with his wife Sharon and their three children Caleb, Meg and Sam. They Jon studied biological farming and marketing ascertain the feasibility of incorporating biological farm principles into their farming system. He investigated whether family farms could maintain an economically viable presence in the produce market while still delivering quality of life to growers and their families. | Read Jon's report |

Helen Armstrong – Secretary (1996 Scholar)

Helen is married to John and they are based at Gilnockie Station near Katherine. She is currently director of Modern Mustering and manager of a northern beef cattle enterprise, supplying live cattle to export markets. Helen studied cross breeding, fertility, hardiness, marketing, exporting and overall property management of beef cattle. | Read Helen's report |

Ashley Severin – Treasurer (1987 Scholar)

Ashley is married to Lyndee and they are based at Curtin Springs Station, via Alice Springs where they manage a cattle station and Wayside Inn. Ashley is a life member of Nuffield Australia and was the first Northern Territory Nuffield Farming Scholarolar. He studied embryo transfer and saline irrigation, travelling to the UK, France and Israel. | Read Ashley's report |

Queensland

Tim Harslett – Chairman (2008 Scholar)

Tim Harslett is a vegetable farmer near Stanthorpe on the Granite Belt Highlands of south-east Queensland. Tim is a fourth generation farmer and has been full-time on the family farm for almost 10 years. He is married to Tracey. His family farm vegetables including celery, Chinese cabbage and mini cos lettuce. Tim chose two topics as part of his study, the role of mechanisation in vegetables and alternative methods of weed and disease control. | Read Tim's report |

Tim Napier – Secretary (2005 Scholar)

Tim is currently working in the area of water policy representing agricultural interests to government. He is married to Jodie and based at Goondiwindi, Qld. Tim studied sustainable production through the widespread adaption of holistic management principles and regenerative farming practices. | Read Tim's report |

Camilla Philip – Treasurer (2007 Scholar)

Camilla is a family owner and operating producer and marketer of fresh tomatoes, lemons and mangoes near Bundaberg with her husband Andrew and children Madison, Anabeth, Savannah and Hugh. Camilla's primary focus of her study was to look at supply chain efficiencies, particularly the growth of category management y major retailers in the horticultural industry. | Read Camilla's report |

South Australia

Damien Smart – Chairman (2007 Scholar)

Damien is a managing partner of The Smart Group, a family business in the region of Keith. Married to Jessica, with twins Harry and Isabel, Damien manages 'Murrabinna', a mixed enterprise near Kingston SE with pasture seed, fodder, cereals, oilseeds, cattle and sheep for both wool and meat. John Gladigau – Secretary (2007 Scholar)

John, wife Bronwyn, and children Jayden and Aimee own Bunyarra, a 2,000 hectare cereal farm in the Northern Mallee region of SA. John studied collaborative farming and creating economies of scale through cooperative farming ventures. He has since put his recommendations into practice with his property now part of a 8000ha collaborative farm called Bulla Burra, of which he is a managing partner. | Read John's report |

Graham Clothier – Treasurer (2005 Scholar)

Graham is a second-generation farmer who has been involved in agriculture for 25 years, and until recently, was farming in partnership with two brothers. Graham is married to Karen with three children Sam, Hannah and Oliver and they manage a mixed farm operation with sheep for meat, wool, and genetics, dryland cropping, clay spreading and delving. Graham studied lamb production, marketing and quality assurance with a focus on value adding for the producer. | Read Graham's report |

Tasmania

Anthony Brandsema – Chairman (2006 Scholar)

Anthony co-owns and manages a family-run greenhouse tomato operation near Turners Beach in Tasmania. Anthony is married to Jillian and they have three young sons. Anthony's study topic had two components, namely "Controlled Environment Management" and "Plant Physiology in a Closed Loop System". | Read Anthony's report |

Robert Bradley – Secretary (2009 Scholar)

Robert is married to Jo and they have two children. They farm an intensive irrigated cropping business near Longford in Tasmania. Robert studied integrated farming systems, the past or the future? His study focused on how to maintain and improve the sustainability of intensive irrigated cropping soils in the Northern Midlands of Tasmania. | Read Robert's report |

Robert Henry – Secretary / Treasurer (1991 Scholar)

Rob is married to Kathy and they farm an irrigated cropping and livestock enterprise near Cressy in Tasmania. Rob travelled on his Scholarolarship in 1991 and studied sustainable agricultural systems on light sandy soils with irrigation. He travelled to the UK, France, USA and Canada. | Read Rob's report |

Victoria

Michael Hastings – Chairman (2005 Scholar)

Michael is married to Victoria and they live near Winchelsea with their two children, Thomas and Charlotte. They run a mixed farming enterprise with beef cattle, lucerne, ostriches and agri-tourism. They manufacture exotic skins and sell ostrich meat and skins through a farm shop and have a livestock exports business. Jamie Snell – Vice Chairman (2007 Scholar)

Jamie has a 130 hectare dairy operation, supported by an additional 80 hectare outblock which carries replacement stock near Merrigum in Victoria. Jamie is married to Anne and they have four children, Michael, Katherine, Xavier, and Matthew. Jamie studied business structures and efficiencies of the family farm, opportunities for new entrants and family succession. | Read Jamie's report |

Nicola Raymond – Secretary (2006 Scholar)

Nicola is a UK Scholarolar who studied the beef industry supply chain and branding in 2006. She relocated to Australia and is now based at Keith, South Australia. A communications consultant, Nicola has a National Diploma in Agricultural Marketing and a PR Certificate. She assists the CEO with communications for Nuffield Australia and is also Executive Officer of Lucerne Australia, the peak industry body for the Australian lucerne seed industry. | Read Nicola's report |

Max Jelbart – Treasurer (1991 Scholar)

Max and Barbe run a large-scale dairy operation at Leongatha, together with a dairy/tourism/hospitality operation at Caldermeade in West Gippsland. They have three sons; Will, George and Tim. Max studied the dairy industry, including conservation and the use of silage and concentrate feeding. He is involved in various dairy industry committees and Marcus Oldham Agricultural College in Australia. | Read Max's report |

Western Australia

David Fulwood – Chairman (2006 Scholar)

David is married to Jo and they have three children, including twin girls. David owns a continuous cropping enterprise incorporating precision agriculture with controlled traffic and variable rate applications. He is also involved in grain marketing and risk management. David explored the potential to value-add commodities by providing branded and/or traceable products to the market, with a focus on grain. | Read David's report |

Leon Ryan – Vice Chairman (2009 Scholar)

Leon is based in Perth and is a partner in the family farm at York, east of Perth which is mixed farming enterprise with 85 per cent cropping with barley, field peas, canola and wheat, and 15 per cent prime lamb production. Leon studied grains demand and consumption trends in the Chinese, Indian and Durum wheat markets. Leon is also the Key Account and Business Development Manager of the trading company Gavilon Grain Australia. | Read Leon's report |

David Cox – Secretary (2005 Scholar)

David is based near Esperance and is farming broadacre canola, wheat and barley. He also runs beef cattle with his wife Sally-Anne and family. David studies the production and management of high yielding crops including disease management, stubble management and improving nitrogen use efficiency. His aim was to investigate a proactive and sustainable approach to high yielding cropping systems in the high rainfall coastal zone of Western Australia. | Read David's report |

Brendon Tierney – Treasurer (2009 Scholar)

Brendon is married to Catherine. They are based east of Moora where his family runs a mixed farming operation with wheat and sheep. Brendon studied the efficient use of capital in farm business to better understand capital resources, especially land and machinery, and to identify opportunities for Australian broadacre grain farmers to improve the way they employ capital in their businesses. | Read Brendon's report |
